Solve Problems
How do we help give people a scalable structure that helps them identify potential use cases in their work, design and build it right and well, relase it into the wild to our users, support it, and iteratively improve it? Well fear not…. In today’s blog post you’ll read about the latest part of the ‘Maker Movement’ in enabling people and growing adoption!
Educate
LET’S BUILD SUPERHEROES!
In my latest blog post we focus on an approach to educating those ‘Leaders’ and ‘People’ who we have inspired in previous steps of the ‘Maker Movement’. We start to identify a structured approach to teach them HOW to learn not WHAT to learn based on Formal Training, learning from others, and learning whilst doing.
Power Platform Copilot licensing
Have you been wondering what Copilot means in the context of Power Platform? How does it link together? What licenses do I need?
This is how I currently understand it…
Leaders
‘Leaders’ is the first, or last (as I explain in the post), step of the ‘Maker Movement’ we’re going to delve into. They’re critical to our success and to the success of inspiring and directing the organisation to help them understand what the platform is, what it does, and why it’s important to THEM, and the organisation. But there are different types of leaders! Who? Well read this post to understand that, and how Backstage Leadership can be used to drive our value hypothesis!
Community
In this post I explore ‘Community’ and how we can use them to help us build adoption and enablement. In this blog post I describe:
What ‘community is’
Where it fits in helping us achieve our goal of growing adoption and enablement
How technology, process, and people, come together to enable community behaviours and feelings, supported by the culture we need to establish to help it to happen
What different stages of community / platform might look like and where it aligns with the value model
How we can generate traffic INTO the community to attract more members and traffic WITHIN the community to provide value, and fun, to it’s members

Measures and KPIs
Power Platform Measures & KPIs - In business we have a love affair with measures and KPIs. We often measure a lot! Some might say we sometimes measure too much… and it’s not always clear WHY we are measuring those things? Who is actually looking at those measures and what do they do with them? Let’s take a look at measures and where we can start with our Power Platform adoption!
The Maker Movement
The Maker Movement is a frame work of steps centred on building an enabling community that give a way to iteratively grow engagement and adoption.
In this post you’ll get a high level overview of the steps to Establish behaviours, enable those behaviours to deliver value, and use story telling to reinforce those behaviours and attract others to join the movement too!
The key ingredient is… fun!
Viral Change
Viral Change is a method of creating pull and attract people to the Power Platform! We want people to see what’s being done, how someone is doing it, recognise the value in doing it, join in and become part of something, and to call to their friends and colleagues to encourage them to join too, and where possible to have fun doing it too! But how? I’ll tell you in this week’s blog post! 😁
Top Down vs Bottom Up Enablement
Organisational Change Management is a important topic and one which is often overlooked, underestimated, and / or undervalued!
In this post we’ll explore elements of this and how we can look at top down or bottom down change approach to support our Power Platform adoption and enablement.
Vision & Strategy
How do we define a vision and strategy for our Power Platform Implementation? Then break that down into a roadmap of goals which we can translate down into a series of aligned activities to achieve our vision over time.
So… Where to start… The approach I’m going to use to break this down is to talk about Vision, Strategy, Roadmap, and OKRs and we’re going to think about Power Platform in our organisation as a ‘Product’ rather than a ‘Project’.
PP Value Hypothesis
When we tend to talk about ‘Value’ we usually hear conversations about how much time the thing saves… How much lower costs are… How output has been increased… How quality has been improved… These are all types of value and they’re all valid an important. But there’s more to consider here… MUCH more!
In this post I’m going to explain how I think about value of the power platform and how we maximise it!
Scalable Governance
Once size doesn’t fit all with governance! What might be right for one ‘Size’ of solution may be drastically over bureaucratic for another.
Using a scalable governance model, that can be understood and followed by anyone in an organisation!
PP Enablement - My view of the world
Power Platform Enablement is the framework and approach we set and follow to systematically unlock the value of the Power Platform. Using some of the principles of more traditional change management approaches, coupled with ‘Viral Change’ techniques we can help change behaviours and support the success of Citizen Developers!
CoE vs CoEn
Have you considered how a Centre of Excellence (CoE) and Centre of Enablement (CoEn) are critical to enabling value from the Power Platform in an organisation? Just having the platform configured safely and securely isn’t enough. We need to also unlock value!
